VinodLive: Linux don’t have a decent Blog Editor?

  • Gili · 2 years ago
Why don't you use Google Reader? It can handle 500 feeds quite gracefully :)
Sorry for not being able to comment on Linux, but i am a Windows fanatic :)

Gili, I am addicted to NetVibes :). There is no going back to Google Reader - unless - they support 'RSS Item Windows' as Netvibes does.

What, no Internet Explorer? c'mon, give it a shot...dare ya. :)

For linux especially ubuntu (i.e Gnome Desktop) I have found Drivel and BlogTK especially useful.

    Listikal,

Internet Explorer??? Since i opened FF for the first time, i never voluntarily opened IE. Unfortunatly, enterprises still feel a bit more secure with a Microsoft product and so i am obliged to use IE at work :)

I too was hooked to Netvibes, then switched to Google Reader.
I used to be an die hard Netvibes fan earlier, recommending it to all people whom I talked to :D

Thank you Aning and everyone for the suggestions and experiences. Now that I have moved completely back to Ubuntu, I will be posting more of the blogging experiences with it further.

Anybody getting started to use FF will never return to IE ever again if not forced to..

Hey Vinod, just came across this post of yours. Wondering what you are using for blogging these days on Ubuntu?
  • Vinod Ponmanadiyil · 2 years ago
Nothing beats, WLW for now. So I have XP virtualized to have WLW and Outlook running!. Being said that, I occasionally use ScribeFire to o.

Oh man, I'm in the same boat... switched to Linux and feel the loss of WLW. I had no idea it was so popular... but doesn't surprise me, since it is so good. I think Ubuntu comes with one, right? I opened it and was like... WTF is this? I thought Linux developers blogged more than this would demonstrate. They must be using the web interface. There's always that! :-P

I'm actually on Fedora on this machine, which best I can tell, has NO blog editor.

Please, oh, please! Someone hook us up with a blog editor that rivals WLW! Down with MS!

Download Flock, http://www.flock.com . The built-in editor is okay, but adding the BlogPlus Flock Extension really makes it rock. The current Flock release has a bug that doesn't permit the BlogPlus extension to be installed correctly. Fortunately, Flock 1.1 is in Beta testing and will be released to the public any day now. I'm testing it and the BlogPlus extension works as designed. And yes, I'm running Ubuntu.

@Groty: I've had some problem with the wordpress categories earlier. I am yet to test the Flock 1.1. beta. I just got it downloaded on my Mac.
